Welcome!

Dear Parent(s),

I'm so happy to be working with your child(ren) this year as we support his/her needs academically.  In case this is your first year here at La Paloma, WELCOME !  My name is Christie Young.  This is my third year at La Paloma Academy - Central and my 38th year teaching in special education.  I have set up a tentative schedule based upon your child's general ed. teacher's schedule.  There may be some adjustments throughout the year, but everything is guided by their IEP.

We greatly value communication at La Paloma, especially in the special education programs.  You will find that I try to send your child's work home every 2-3 weeks along with a written progress note for you to review and sign.  Please send the signed progress note back in the White Communication Envelope the next school day.  Your child will earn responsibility stars for returning this in a timely manner.  The longer it takes to be returned, the fewer stars they receive.

Should you have any questions or concerns at all regarding your child's IEP, please don't hesitate to call me or send me an email.  I am your child's case manager at school.  His/Her teacher and I want to work with you as a team to promote their progress and happiness as they learn.

With best regards,

Christie T. Young, M.Ed.
