Welcome to 2011-12
In case this is your first year here, welcome! My name is Christie Young. This is my 4th year at La Paloma and my 39th year teaching in special education in Arizona. Joining me for the fall semester of this academic year is Ms. Valerie Daren. She is completing her student teaching this semester and will be graduating in December with her Bachelor's degree in Special Education. Valerie has been with La Paloma since 2004 as a paraprofessional and is very excited about working with your students this year. As this semester progresses, Ms. Daren will be spending increasing amounts of instructional time with the students K-5 under my supervision.
We greatly value communication at La Paloma, especially in the special education program. Individual progress updates are sent home with each student for you to review and sign every 3 weeks. Should you have any questions or concerns at all regarding your child's IEP, please don't hesitate to call me or send an email. I am your child's case manager or advocate here at La Paloma. His/Her teacher and I want to work with you as a team to promote their progress and happiness as they learn.
